Becoming an ACVCP resident

The first step in becoming an ACVCP resident is to identify and be accepted to an approved Residency Training Program.  It is also possible to create an alternate training program for individuals that are employed outside of locations with an approved training program including in industry and academia.  For these individuals, an onsite supervisor is identified along with an ACVCP diplomate mentor that does not have to be physically present at the training location but oversees resident training.  A program is then created to meet the residency requirements.  Please contact us if you are interested in becoming an ACVCP resident!

Once candidates enroll in a residency training program, they must create an account on this website, register as a candidate, and pay the registration fee ($75) by October 1 of their first year of residency.  Following registration, an annual progress report is due February 1 of each year of the training program.  In order to become a board-certified veterinary clinical pharmacologist, candidates must complete all requirements associated with their residency training program and pass the Phase I and Phase II examinations.
